M4H P52 “Around The Block” Winner and Eye Candy

    Hopping into our Eye Candy this lovely Monday. I have to say this week you all outdid yourselves. I usually have a hard time choosing anyway but I am amazed not only at your beautiful photography but the areas you live in. Stunning! I also love the creative stretch and imagination and seeing how you all interpret the same exact theme in your own wonderful ways.

    I also want to mention with the weather we have had all over the United States, the severe and scary and devastating losses that so many have endured it also goes to show the power of human nature. It shows the resiliency, and the beauty and just how special these neighborhoods of ours really are. These images are more profoundly special then we realize at this moment. My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by the tornadoes and severe weather all over the country.

    Gonna hop right in so you can see for yourselves!

    The Winner grabs a $40.00 GC to the shop. Please email me to claim your prize.

    I have two this week!

    Around the block…

    Oklahoma has seen its share of hard times, but nothing can compare to the latest devastation. My family rode out the May 20 tornado in my mother in law’s cellar. Thankfully, the storm’s path stayed about a mile to the south of her home. But when we emerged from the cellar, nothing could prepare us for the images of our town.

    It’s been a very emotional few days. Eighty families from my church lost their homes. Four of the precious children who perished in the storm were also church members. The photos you see cannot even come close to showing the damage. The devastation is so immense it’s hard to wrap your mind around it.

    I was almost overcome with sadness and grief when entering these neighborhoods. Imagining people’s lives devastated by the storm brought me to tears. Walking around my spirit changed. I saw countless groups cleaning. There were volunteers going through the streets passing out food, supplies, and first aid. Families sifting through the debris laughing and smiling. Only hope, strength, and the willingness to put the bad days behind was present on these streets. There is much work to be done, but I am confident that the great State of Oklahoma will prevail.

    (no, this isn’t my actual block. But in times like these, we Oklahomans band together.)

    (52) week 22. around the corner.

    Caption:

    Around the corner is a bunch of bokeh! My house is a corner house, and we spent a lot of time outside this week playing on the side. I decided to shoot our little tree for the week’s theme. There was some beautiful light, and with my 50mm lens on, the bokeh was delicious – haha!

    I went to the Exposure Show this week. Took a few shots, and I will be uploading them soon πŸ™‚

    Oh at the show, I got inspired to start up a little studio at home! Going to try doing some flash photography and portraits this summer πŸ™‚ Yay πŸ˜€

    Thanks for always commenting guys! It makes me so happy πŸ™‚

    Caption:

    Just around the corner, a little up the road, lives our favourite tree. Isn’t she a beauty? Bella and I think she is far too pretty to be sitting all alone in the middle of a roundabout. Sometimes we imagine where we would take her… to a grassy paddock, up a hill, to a lake, to our own backyard…. but really, we don’t mind that she is not in the most perfect location. This means we get to see her everyday πŸ™‚

    M4H{22/52} "Around the block"

    Caption:

    I’ve been “around the block” a few times. Life has brought me some difficult trials. Out of those experiences has been the gift of realizing what really matters to me. So this week I have put emphasis on that. I have embraced and captured some of the imperfections in my life just to symbolize how perfect it all really is.

    Caption:

    This is my block, my home, my red door that I love so much. What you can’t see is all the great neighbors we are so blessed to have, the barn at the front of our neighborhood, all of the kids running around…there were so many things that I could have photographed…but I guess when it came right down to it, this is where it all started 13 years ago this month. I never thought I would love this place as much as I do…moving from the Northeast to the South was such a drastic change. But I love it..and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

    Moss on a stone

    Caption:

    M4H 22/52: Around the block. I left my house to photograph some of my neighborhood and made it as far as…my front stone wall. I was completely intrigued by the moss growing on my front stone wall (I love this wall). I never pay much attention to this moss but there are several different types based on my observation and I especially like this kind, which seems to have all these little orangy-red stalks that look like tiny heads. So this is what’s going on on MY block: moss. Technically you can see up my street in this shot but really, it’s all about the moss.

    Ha ha..for ‘around the block’! I was taking pictures on Hollywood Blvd. and I asked this guy..”If I give you some money, would you walk across the street and back towards me and raise your cape up?” He was so fun..I think he did it about six times until I got it right. He was so sweet. When he saw the photo on the screen he leaned down and said (he was very tall) “You know, I’ve probably had my picture taken a thousand times in this costume but no one’s ever taken one like that..would you email that to me?” Of course, I did!

    Week 22 {Around the block}

    Caption:

    Theme ~ {Around the Block}

    Well, where I live we don’t have a “block”, we just have gravel roads and back-road trails. I had great intentions with this “theme”. We went on a big quad/dune buggy ride today and I had envisioned a timed shot of the five of us all on our machines lined up across the road with big smiles and beautiful scenery. There were big smiles and beautiful scenery for about 1.5 hours….and then the dune buggy broke down. So, instead of suggesting a family picture, I just put my camera away….it was certainly NOT the time to suggest that. As I was getting towed back home I snapped this picture of our little tour “around the block”.

    (please note – it was my husband driving the dune buggy when it broke down, but for some reason I got towed home steering HIS broken down dune buggy and he drove MY quad)

    Hope you all had a fabulous Sunday. Other than this minor breakdown, ours was pretty great!
