I can not tell you how much I adore this family. They have the sweetest story.
Dad reached out to me before the holidays last year and let me know he was booking this session as a surprise for his wife. I admit many of the first contacts that go on to book me are other women, so I was pretty floored that this Mama had been chatting me up enough for her husband to really know how much a session with me would mean to her. ULTIMATE compliment. I did all I could not to blow the surprise and was super anxious to find out how the news went over. Would she be as excited as he hoped she would?? And of course them schlepping their family to Colorado to see me, it’s always means more than I can say. I get a lot of families that do come to me from other states and even out of the country, but it never is beyond me what a special compliment this is and how spoiled I really am. I digress though.
When we met she filled me on just how special her husband is and how romantic of a gesture his purchasing a family session with me was.
He gathered their entire family around and played a game of charades. When she finally guessed “My Four Hens”, she really WAS just as excited as I hoped to come see me (or so I am imagining. Give me this one guys haha.) Meeting them in person was a dream for me, however. Their beautiful children, the souls and hearts and minds of these people. I just kept thinking, IS THIS REAL LIFE? ARE THEY EVEN REAL?
And the answer is yes.
Also, their oldest daughter sings like an angel and serenaded her Mama and siblings while they were snuggled up in some of these images. Jeff Buckely’s rendition of Hallelujah is one of my most favorite songs, so when she started to sing, I teared right on up. It was also totally unprompted. Future families. If you are musical, bring your ukulele, guitar, banjo– whatever it may be. Instant magic.
I’ll just stop gushing and let you see for yourself.
