A Very Special Family, A Very Special Cause

I have had the pleasure of photographing the P family on many occasions. Darius is the most special little boy and after numerous sessions his parents entered him into my little Mr. M4H competition this past year and won! I was ecstatic to work with him again! They came back for a mini session this past fall and we got to chatting and I learned from Linda (Darius’s mama) that they are going to be embarking on quite an amazing journey and adopting another child hopefully in the future! They are in the process of trying to raise the money and I honestly can not think of a more fitting or amazing family to give Little D a brother or a sister! When you read a bit about what Linda wrote you will see why:

A late night phone call led to the most amazing journey of our lives.  A single sentence opened my heart in places I had come to believe would forever remain locked away, never to fulfill their purpose.  “Wait here, while I go get your son.”. That was the very moment I discovered my purpose and our dreams had come true, we were finally parents.  Everything was perfect,  happy couldn’t begin to explain how we felt…. God had answered our prayers…. When our son ( how we had longed to say those words) was about four months old, we were contacted and asked if we would be willing to adopt a baby due in March.    After much thought and prayer we decided to say yes.  Even though our son would only be six months at the time, we were confident that with the support of our friends and family we would be able to still give our children the best of each of us. And that the group of people who surrounded us with their love and prayers would be more than enough.  That March we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, we named Reylani.  Darius and Reylani were six months and four days apart.  Again, we couldn’t begin to understand how we had gotten so lucky and blessed.  Our family was perfect.  Perfect and crazy but we loved it and our support base was strong.  Everything changed exactly 13 months and 13 days later.  April 16 th 2009…. The day we lost Reylani….. Sometimes adoptions don’t work… And in this case it failed in so many ways, but it also shattered our perfect world and sent us on a daily struggle just to get through each day.  Our saving grace was our son…. He deserved only the best and we were determined to give it too him…. Every moment of my life I imagine what it would have been like to have Rey Rey there with us… That will never change!!!! Now two and a half years later, Darius continues to amaze us every single day and as his Mom, I believe he is the most incredible little boy in all the world and I thank God each and every day for blessing us with Darius.,.. We have decided that we are ready and willing to add to our family and have begun the adoption process again… Hopefully someday in the near future we will be lucky enough to hold a baby again as our son or daughter….

Are you in tears yet? Seriously. This just wrenches my heart strings. I can not imagine how they felt or what they went through. Such brave souls to be willing to put it all on the line and try again. They are honestly the most loving and nurturing parents a child could ever want! And this is how you can help!!
