Growing up in New England and moving to Colorado I have always been in awe of how different it could be in two parts of the country or even the world.

Well, it is May 1st and we still have snow here in Manitoba! I donned my stylish, colourful rubberboots to go check the Assiniboine River level today by our home and couldn’t believe I was walking through snow to get there. It has certainly been a very long winter!

When the sun finally begins to show her face, the tips of the leaves of this hundred year old jade plant begin to turn a rich red. Soon after it will bear sweet, pink flowers. This jade started out as a small piece broken off of my great Nona’s plant given to my mom to grow. When I moved out on my own, my mom sent me off with my own piece of it broken off from her plant. And now, over one hundred years and three generations later, the tradition continues on.

I woke up this morning to snow! I had just bought a car load of flowers so they are spending the next few days on our porch until the weather warms up enough to dig holes. My first year in Missouri and I can’t believe the weather!

Spring has sprung – and I’m done my exams! FINALLY! Well I’ve been done for almost a week now, but I haven’t come near my computer because I’ve been so tired.

I finally got to go to High Park! And the cherry blossoms were BEAUTIFUL! Finally saw them in full bloom!

A sure sign that Spring is finally on its way here in Northern Minnesota. It has been long, it has been trying and even though there is still dirty snow piles in our yard, there is also this little beauty.
