M4H P52 Sunshine Winner and Eye Candy

Being it is not only Monday but daylights savings time I am dragging my heels a bit. I have to say going through the flickr pool is always a wonderful kickstart to my week so I am going to jump in with our Eye Candy in just a second.

First I wanted to preface this shortly because I got a confused message in regards to this week’s “Wild Card” theme and I realized those new to our project this year might be unfamiliar to this.I didn’t really elaborate to much so entirely my fault. It isn’t a lack of theme choices but a chance for everyone to really shoot from their heart with no strings. This point in the project especially I notice member participation falls off a little so it is a bit of a brain break. It also makes for a gorgeous Eye Candy post with all the variety we get. I do them a couple times a year! :)Again the main goal of this project is to drop the rules and remember to shoot for ourselves. This is just as much your project as it is mine.Of course I am a bit unconventional by nature so if you do prefer something different or more conventional I will not at all be offended if you decide to seek out another project either because I know there are SO many wonderful ones out there. I really just want you all to find a good fit and keep on shooting! These projects are super hard to stick to so it’s best to really stay inspired! Also know if ever there is a theme you don’t like you are free to make up your own. I promise you still have just the same chance of being featured. I would never hold that against you.

I always mean to do a general faq post on how the group works and how I make my selections weekly. It isn’t easy at all with So much talent and so many meaningful photos. Also as far as choosing the images I would say the eye Candy post all in all takes about two hours to compile and depending on how our day starts out I get to it a bit later some days then others. That is why they get posted a bit later some Mondays though I try to get a jump on it with my morning coffee. You do not need to photograph children to be chosen (in fact you don’t even need people.) I am of course a mother and specialize in Kiddos and Families so I gravitate there sometimes but in all honesty I love the range and the gorgeous landscapes and other things I see that I can’t myself pull off just as much lol! I pull from the flickr pool because it is easier for me to code the posts. I am kind of HTML dumb so it helps me a bit.
When selecting images first I hit the flickr pool and open each image that grabs my fancy right away in its own tab. Then I search up each user name to make sure I didn’t feature them too recently to be sure everyone gets a chance to be featured (though there are times someone gets featured a couple weeks in a row its not a solid rule). Then after I go though again looking for the “winner” and after that get to the eye candy. After I finish with that I then head back to our flickr group again and go through each image one by one to make sure I didn’t leave any out. I am a one woman show so I do my best to stay organized for you guys. Unfortunately I am also a bit OCD so my process takes me a while lol! I like to make sure there is a good variety of styles, subjects and such too. I read every single caption as well so it isn’t always about the image and more the story behind it as well. You don’t need a fancy camera either. In fact I have even featured instagram photos before so pretty please don’t be intimidated or afraid to share.

Now that that you have gotten to hear me ramble let us get to the fun stuff!

My little sunshine and I decided to create some sunshine since it’s been so yucky here. We left the sun and blue sky hanging on the wall in the hallway. We’ve decided to leave it up until we get some real sun! But, it’s never a cloudy day with this little girl around. She is my little ray of light!

“I got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine” – as sung by Natasha Bedingfield.

I have had this song stuck in my head since I saw the theme on Sunday. I’m weird like that.

This was the one afternoon we had some sunshine this whole week. I wanted to try it again and get the sun lower in the sky, but the forecast is calling for rain the next few days so this will have to be it!

This was taken just as I was leaving the Yorkshire Dales Icecream Factory with my husband and our 2 kids. The weather has been awful for days, but just as we were getting in the car some very welcome rays of sunshine suddenly broke through. I gave this a quick edit using the M4H Vibrant Colour action.

    (52) week 10. sunshine.

    (52) week 10. sunshine.

    What a long, long week!

I’ve just been so tired from school work, I haven’t had any time to pick up my camera. I don’t think anyone is waiting for this semester to be over, as much as I am.

I finally signed up for a profile on Getty, and submitted three of the pictures they chose! Hopefully they are accepted πŸ™‚ I still have 5 more to submit…being lazy and taking my time. Ugh.

This shot’s from today. I was studying biochemistry, and saw the beautiful sun right behind shining on my notebook…just had to go grab my camera. Since my sister wasn’t willing to be a model infront of the sun directly, I had to result to my milk mug, lol.

I did manage to get a few shots of her, while she was doing a little sketching!

These types of moments always make me smile.

    Anyways, ciao for now πŸ™‚

β€œAs the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder

    Sunshine - (10/52)

    Sunshine – (10/52)

It has been a particularly “blah” past month weather-wise in South-Central PA. Lots of clouds, heavy, dark clouds. Did I mention clouds? Although my mood and energy have been low I never considered how I might impact little ones. When I saw my almost-2 year old basking in the rare morning light all cuddled up with my iPhone I realized, we are all pretty sun-starved. And quite thankful for light, life, and rejuvinating rays…

Finally got a little sunshine. It was gone before I could get my shoes and go outside. I imagined doing a sunny backlit portrait for this weeks theme, but it’s not meant to be. Sometimes you have to be grateful for the small things, like a little ray of light through the kitchen window.
