M4H P52 Evoke ___ Eye Candy

I am running a little bit late today. We took our littles out exploring Poudre Canyon here in Colorado (Gorgeous) and got back late. Just wanted to get this up for everyone. I am also thinking wayyyy ahead to next year. I have so enjoyed this project immensely. I know it has been harder for some then others (*cough me*) to get a photo taken every week. I think we need to find a way to take the pressure off a bit on you guys. I know the theme is optional but when there is a theme we feel we must do it soooo I want to hear input. You can comment here, or email me personally at Sarah@Myfourhensphotography (dot) com. I want to know what you would like to see this year. Maybe a project twelve with an assortment photos of from one day each month of the year OR we can continue to do a P52 with themes or without themes. Realistically this should be fun! I don’t mind taking on the extra work of organizing it but want it to feasible for you all. I may also be looking for an assistant or two to help me comment in the galleries etc. Let Me know!

Watching my daughter and her friends celebrating her 8th birthday evoked such a strong memory of my childhood friendships. I am so blessed and very, very grateful to still have most of these gorgeous girls in my life today……… I wish this for my Bella.

My Bella relaxing during our trip to the apple orchard. I had to cancel two sessions on this day due to the threat of rain. Sometimes I am convinced that it rains on weekends as Mother Nature’s way of telling me to take a break and enjoy my own littles. So while it may make a mess of my shooting schedule, I am more than happy for some rain on the weekend.

Week 41 ~ Evoke… Nature

The My Four Hens Project 52 theme this week is Evoke ___ and we choose what to put in the blank. I chose nature! We had rain on Thursday that was lovely and soft and created beautiful baubles of rain drops on the leaves and bushes. I’ve been wanting to do a deep black and white conversion with leaves for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Evoking nature, evoking bokeh, evoking beauty. This is a definite Zen image for me.

As I post this photo, I am not quite decided on what emotion it evokes in me. Peace maybe, or a sense of freedom. Lightness, or perhaps contentment.

I guess it evokes many different feelings, which sums up this past week pretty well. My family lost something this week that we never really had. Yet, it was a week of sadness and loss, but also a week of thankfulness with lots of love surrounding us.

After all of that, today I spent the afternoon with my family watching these kites fly, and I realized that I can let go without forgetting. I felt acceptance mixed with hope, because I know that everything happens for a reason.

I’ve been late with these for the last few times, but well, such is life right now. Evoking. What does that mean to me here? Here I was evoking my patience in grabbing a shot of my kid that used light (in his room) and an unusual calm moment for him. I love this kid. I love his crazy spirit and I love his gentle spirit as well. I love how they work together to make him uniquely him.

My husband works for an Organic Farmshop/Farm in the Cotswolds, UK which celebrated it’s 10th anniversary this weekend. The hands are those of their market gardener Jez. He was teaching my seven year old how to string onions on a rope and explaining the advantages of doing that …e.g. saving the need for bags, easy to carry etc. Those hands to me are so evocative of … “honesty & love” which goes into the farming of good market produce … so Daylesford Organic!
