I thought I would add this one since it does show mom making her happy. She still has the red eyes and a small tear on her face but she is smiling.
    {First picture mom stopped walking then in 2nd picture mom started walking again!}

I know I put the top one up already but it was before I was done with this and I think this tells the whole story.

Our house is crazy at the moment.
My FIL is in is final days with us as he continues to fight his brain tumor.
As a mother we try to protect our children from harmful things in life but we also must remember that they are part of what is going on too.
Today while having a bath my daughter goes “look mummy I am an octopus with my hair – grandad likes octopus'” and there I was reminded just how much they are thinking of him too.

I love these hands. My son has been handing me flowers since he was old enough to crawl across the grass and pick a dandelion. He has a very sweet heart.
Motherhood to me is wrapping my arms around him tight enough to make him feel safe and loved yet loose enough to let him explore and grow. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Motherhood – Expect the unexpected!

My middle daughter and I were making cakes for tomorrow’s cake walk at school. As a mom, baking is something I do regularly. It actually relieves stress for me. In any case, I was having her pat her hands together to make a bit of “dust” in the air. I wanted to capture the idea of motherhood being “messy, but sweet”, and she turned toward me and blew the cake mix at me instead! As I said, if there is one thing 15 years of motherhood has taught me, it’s to always, “expect the unexpected!”

This is my four year old. She watched me go through my pregnancy last year and this year is watching two aunts go through theirs. It is so so sweet to watch her play this. She will stick a ball up her shirt and waddle around the house. She has watched me do maternity shoots in the past and was totally posing with her “bump”, soooo funny! After her baby “arrives” she mimics all the things I do and say to take care of her baby brother. It’s pretty amusing to hear some of the things come out of her mouth and the tone she uses. In the photo she is feeding her baby a biscuit from mcdonalds (she calls it “old mcdonalds” ha!) because thats what babies apparently eat. ๐Ÿ™‚ Some day in the faaaaaaarr away future, she is going to make a great mama!

Becoming a mother to this little boy, has taught me a lot of things. I honestly can’t remember life prior to having my child. He is the love of my life, my reason for living, and my everything. Having to leave him in the hospital after he was born, was heartbreaking. I’m his beautiful and pretty Mommy(that’s what he tells me daily). Just like the quote says above, having a child, is having your heart walk around outside of your body for the rest of your life. Some girl is going to be extremely lucky to have him one day. Being a mother to him, is the best thing God has done for me. I am beyond grateful that I was chosen to be his Mommy.

This is just a small sampling of what motherhood means to me….these are mothers day cards and gifts from years gone by, when my boys were just little guys. They are both young men now and I guess I did a good job, sometimes you just don’t know if you’re doing everything right….they tell me I did anyway! When we’re together we laugh and talk and i’m reminded of all the good times they had growing up…..how can they be in their twenties already….wasn’t this just a few years ago?

It is the simple parts of being a mother that make me happy – something as simple as meeting my children at the bus stop on a rainy day, knowing they will feel the comfort of having their mom be there for them. Providing comfort and a sense of security is the most important job a mother has –

It’s been a busy week (isn’t it always busy when you’re a mother?!) and I realised I was running out of time for M4H52 project! All the kids were getting ready for bed and I saw scattered shoes all over the house. As I was tidying them away this image came to mind for motherhood. Motherhood to me is ordered chaos, with my heart ruled by the little people in my life.

Being a mother is the hardest most rewarding job a woman can have. I became a mother very early on but I don’t regret it one bit. It has taught me patience, kindness, love, and laughter. I couldn’t imagine my life without my girls. They are my everything.

Even though my hair looks like crap, I’m in my “comfy clothes” and it’s slightly out of focus, I don’t care because it represents motherhood to me.

    Motherhood!

    Caption:
    Motherhood!

In motherhood we like to compare, compare to other mothers if we are being the best mother we can be to our children. We question ourselves and look at our mistakes. But then those special moments come when you discover that you are being what your children need. You are in fact doing your job and they see all the love you have for them. They just need us to be us! They need OUR smile, OUR laugh!

    Motherhood – 2

Saturday we celebrated my nephews life with an after-the-baby shower. As my mom cradled her newborn grandson in her lap I snapped this shot. I couldn’t help but imagine how my mom cradled me like this 30 some years ago. How she comforted me, and found the perfect place where I felt peace and love. A vision of God’s faithfulness through the generations (she’s wearing her mother’s ring) and an appreciation for her past mothering and her perpetual mothering as her care and love continues to abound.

This is a self portrait series that I recently made with my children. I am always behind the camera and never in front, so there are only a few images with me in them. I don’t want my children to look back and wish they had more photos with their Mum. So, I have stepped in front of the camera more recently and I am enjoying the experience.

I thought a picture of my daughter and I would be perfect but one joy of motherhood that I love is just watching her. Watching her develop, watching her watch things, watching her face light up when she sees her mommie or daddy, watching her show love to the cats, watching her try to interact with other kids, watching her sleep peacefully, watching her giggle, and so much more! I just love Mommyworld so much and am so blessed to have this sweet, little miracle in my life!

This face. This sweet fabulous little face changed everything in my life almost five years ago. She was not planned, she was the sweetest, unexpected surprise. Before her creation I had nearly given up on the idea of ever becoming a mother. The day her life started, my life began. She is my joy, my hope, and my greatest lesson in life, I could not love her more.

P52/Week 20 – This is motherhood for me. There are certainly parallels between raising dogs and raising kids; I haven’t slept through the night in 7 years. I’ve been peed, pooped and puked on repeatedly. Been up all night with a sick baby. I Worry incessantly about their well being, happiness and their nutrition…and they are the best part of every, single day. Itโ€™s a good day when I go to work with dog fur stuck to something.

Motherhood is like a dandelion. Our entire job is to prepare our children to fly away from us. To be able to bloom where they are planted. For that brief, glowing moment we harbor them at home, growing them and watching them tiptoe toward the day when the wind of life will pick them up and carry them away. We give roots and wings. And we teach them to dig down deep and root themselves in healthy soil and flourish. Motherhood is like dandelions. We might feel like weeds somedays, but when the light hits just right, it’s glorious!

It’s the moment you choose to shift your mind, and therefore, change your experience. And when your experience changes, a miraculous outcome occurs.” -Gabrielle Bernstein

    Week-20

I have to admit that this week’s challenge was the hardest one for me, but then I came across a blog (I wish I remembered whose it was). It said that most people assume you get to choose to have more kids or not. Well for some women, myself included, it’s not our decision. If it was my decision, I would have had another child years ago. For a longtime I struggled with feeling broken, but now I have come to realize that this is just our path.

So for right now Motherhood to me is needles, pills, and more doctor’s visits than I care to remember. All in the hopes that I can one day give my daughter the sibling she and I both want.

I have loved this challenge. I think you singlehandedly have given me the biggest shot of believing in my abilities behind the camera. I never thought I would stand a chance of any of my photos being grouped with such amazing talent. To have mine picked multiple times now is such an honor and such a shot of belief in my artistic ability! I’m very new to all this (I have a degree in fine art, but not much by way of photography, so I am almost completely self taught)and just starting to challenge myself behind the lens. Thanks for helping give me the self-confidence to keep moving forward! ๐Ÿ™‚
