In the Spirit of Miracles | Waterford, CT Child Photographer

Grab your kleenex. This one is a heart wrencher. And while your at it if you have them close by go hug your babies!

Wow. I am totally choking up over here. I just said good bye to a sweet friend that was visiting for the week and thought I would hop on facebook to play catch up. (Oh boy being off the internet for a few days can really stack the work on up!) And I saw this status message from Valerie, a mommy of a VERY special recent client of mine:

Jocelyn’s lung nodules are gone!!! I can’t even believe it. How amazing. The chemo is working and my baby is healing!!!

Yes. Jocelyn is healing!! I am so incredibly relieved and happy to hear this! This little girl is so amazing. Miracles happen. They do. Jocelyn is proof.

Jocelyn’s session had to be postponed qutie a few times. I remember getting her mama’s first email. She had told me J had a cast and she wanted to wait till it came off before pictures. We were all totally unaware that it was more then just her little leg. Then I got the next email stating that little J was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. Its been a hard, long fight for Jocelyn and her family but they have continued to be strong and courageous and its paying off!!! Leading up to the session, when I had learned we were finally going to be able to go through with photos I admit I was nervous. I NEVER really get nervous before sessions. I just wanted these photos to be perfection. I wanted them to really capture Jocelyn’s spirit, her beauty, her soul. I wanted her family to see their sweet little girl just transcend perfectly. I wanted to do her justice. My husband and I pulled up. I just fell in love.  Miss J warmed right up to me. We did piggy back rides and rolled around in the grass and played hide and seek. And to step back and watch Jocelyn and her mommy together warmed my heart. I have never in my life seen nor photographed a more gorgeous mother daughter duo. They were so connected. And my heart just went out to Valerie when she told me the reason her husband couldn’t attend was because he had gotten sick and couldn’t even be around his daughter never mind participate in their family photos. I plan to do a celebratory family session for them when this is all behind them! I can’t tell you how changed and honored I am to have not only been able to photograph Jocelyn and give her mother a very special gift but to meet this little lady. I hope to introduce her to my own little ones someday. I know they will love her tremendously!

Anyhow if you would like read more about J her mama has kept a blog for her. You will find that here. (Click HERE)

This also prompted me to REALLY want to give back in anyway I can! If you know a child suffering from any kind of terminal illness in my area please refer me to their family because I will seriously do a session for them free of charge and provide a book of all the images from their session to them free of charge.

In addition this has inspired me to join an amazing organization.  It is called Inspiration through Art. I will be posting more about this soon! You can find them here.
