The Authentic Artist : A Complete Guide on Creating Genuine, Riveting Imagery

If you are a photographer and have been struggling with creating emotive, honest work–you are in the right place, my Friend. If you have been in pursuit of your voice. or your style– or are just really struggling to figure it all out, you are not alone. I can tell you, as an people-loving introvert, I have been there. I have been right where you are in this moment. Whether you are in the very beginnings of your journey as a photographer, or you have been doing this for years and are feeling burnt-out and stuck, I want to have a heart-to-heart with you. Everything you need to hear is right within this guide.

I am here to show you that you can do this. You can both love photography AND your clients, and come away with images your families treasure and you are proud of. You deserve that and you deserve to give that to those that come to you to tell their stories. I know this because YOU are a storyteller. It’s already within you as you read this.

Years ago, I decided my clients needed more than “perfectly” coifed, stiffly posed photographs of their family. They needed to see the way they were celebrated and they needed to embrace each moment that wasn’t coming back to them. This is when I adopted the “moments over poses” philosophy. Since then I have been in the creative pursuit of making work that spoke to me, and hopefully in turn filled me up. For the longest time I was expecting these things to happen for me, as if my families knew exactly what I wanted… I mean all families just hug all of the time, right? If only it were that simple. I needed more from my work. As an artist, I deserved that, too. Just as you do.

This is my third and maybe even my favorite educational workshop guide. It compliments Moments Matter and Heartstrings perfectly, but stands on it’s own. You do not need the other guides to benefit from The Authentic Artist. This guide is broken into three very important parts, and goes above and beyond the “how” to also answer “why.” I share how to deal with insecurity and competition. How I combat burn out. Why I choose to be vulnerable, why I choose the light I do, why I choose the angles and perspectives and in turn answers all those “how” questions you may have. I also share how to tell a story using your composition, how to use light to make a strong point of view, how to deal with less than savory light– in less than ideal locations.

I share what verbal, emotional prompts I use to get my families to interact in a natural way.  I have broken down why my focal lengths and lens choices matter and when and how I use those. I have even polled my social media following and received some of your most amazing burning questions, and have covered those inside this guide as well. We will talk a lot about my behind the scenes and how I deal with imbalance in my work and personal life. There are little challenges and “homework” assignments sprinkled through out this guide to help you put a lot of this into practice right away.

If you are feeling like you are ready to make change and rekindle that light that you are missing, begin with this.

Here is a peek of just a few of the many inside this guide:

So why these guides? Because I have been where you are. We are on parallel paths, my friends. I want to make your journey a bit easier. I want to share all that it’s taken me years to learn. I want to open up doors and maybe even your mind to all the possibilities and potential you really have. I just want to help. I know how exhausting this all can be. I know how many mistakes I made to get here. Please know however, if I can be where I am now–so can you.

Please Note: Due to the large nature of this file, the PDF has been condensed to make it easier to download, but does come in a zip file. It may take quite a while to download completely. You will need to open this to a desktop, but it can be transferred to an iPad or smart device for reading on the go from there by using a file sharing service of your choosing (dropbox is a good one.) I also included the full resolution (HUGE file and will take possibly hours to download in the e-mail sent upon purchase), but wanted you to have this should you want to print this. If your link times out or you need your link reset, don’t panic! Just shoot me a message and I will get you a fresh link or send you straight to dropbox where you shouldn’t have any problem at all.

Please allow 48 hours to be approved into the group. It may be sooner– but we will be traveling so I want to be sure that I can make sure I properly screen everyone through purchase to be fair to all photographers that do invest in this guide–and have a decent internet connection.
