This week’s prize is a $40.00 Gift Card to my shop for any of my actions, textures or presets in the shop.

after one of the most hideous days in a long time, I came home to find my absolutely gorgeous Asphyxia Couture singlet waiting for me, and somehow that has made all of the bad things go away. I’m pretty invincible now.

P52/Week 3: “Pieces of Me”
All these things I’ve been reading about putting together a photography portfolio have taught me nothing if they’ve not taught me that all of my photos should have a cohesive feel. That someone could look at my work and fill in the blank of “Kel is a __(name any genre here)__ photographer.”
I should be a portrait photographer. Or a lifestyle photographer. Or a wildlife photographer.
Aaaaaannnndddd, sure, maybe I can occasionally venture into the wilds of street photography and even a few (kitchen) studio setups. But, I’d also like to be much better at landscapes and creative composite images. I want to do it all. WAAAA!
So, when I took this photo of myself for the P52 “Pieces of Me” entry….I realized it shows how I feel about this photographic journey I’m on. That choosing only one genre would only be showing a piece of me, not all I want to be.
(And maybe that I should add fine art photographer to my wannabe list….it was fun!)

This necklace belonged to my Great-Grandmother, passed down to my grandmother, then my mom, and to me on my 21st birthday. They helped make me into the woman I am today, and for that I am forever grateful.

3/52 – Pieces of Me
There are a lot of little pieces of me but when I think about myself or rather how I define myself, I often think of my son. I didn’t know when he was born that my whole life would change, that my life would suddenly take on a different meaning. The past three years I have thought of myself one dimensionally as “mother of a child with Down syndrome.” I started photography as a hobby soon after he was born. This child has taught me so much about love and life and through my lens the beauty that surrounds him, that he creates. Someday I hope to add “Photographer” to my definition and I’ll have this amazing boy to thank.

M4H || Project 52
For this challenge, I chose to photograph my wedding rings. I chose them because, apart from my Bible, nothing on earth represents more of me than these do. On the day my husband & I wed, I chose to give him myself – my heart, my commitment, my plans…all that I had…and he did the same for me. We chose to wear rings as a symbol of this commitment. So when I think of things that represent “pieces of me,” this is what comes to mind. Three little rings that say not only “pieces of me,” but “all of me.”

of loss
of broken heart
I am

in the face of captivity
I have passion for the unloved
for the broken
for mercy and justice
for innocence

{3/52 Pieces of Me}
What would it look like if we walked around with pieces of our life on our faces? Not all of life is what this world would consider rosy, but all of it has a purpose & I should be considering it as a blessing from God. I am a grateful & very blessed girl. π
P.S. I literally sat down & just wrote whatever came to mind. Not all words are describing me. Some of them are character qualities or things I encounter from day-to-day, or things I just plain love. This is pretty much 100% raw me. π

M4H 3:52- pieces of me
This weekend we got to puppy sit for my brother. Penny was such a welcome presence in our house, since our own beloved dog passed away almost two years ago. We’ve been reluctant to replace her but having Penny here filled a piece of my heart that has been empty since. And my girls just loved having a puppy. Thinking it won’t be too much longer now! (Oh and I promise we aren’t lushes–all the left over beer in the background is from the holidays π )

3/52- Pieces of Me
All week I’ve been wrestling with my ideas for an image that clearly shows “pieces of me”. I thought up about 2 million different things but kept coming back to this one– these 2 necklaces draped over a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that is in my kitchen. Here’s the explanation:
– the necklaces were both given to me by very close friends. My friends and family mean the WORLD to me and I am fortunate to have amazing people in my life.
-the Captured Bliss necklace with the tiny camera and stamped metal piece with my business name on it is sort of a talisman. I wear it for my sessions and when I am “working”– gets me in the zone, so to speak.
-the other necklace has a queen’s crown charm and 2 flowers with my daughters’ names on them, and a small pearl. This is WAY super corny, but the pearl reminds me of my husband- a rare gem among many other men in the world– like a pearl is a special part of an oyster. The queen’s crown is symbolic of myself- I am the queen of this house and it is a nickname for me that my husband has used for many years. Queen is also one of my fave bands, just sayin’. π
-Obviously my girls are LITERALLY “pieces of me” and these little charms remind me of them when we are apart. Whenever I travel I bring this particular necklace- makes me feel close to my littles when we are not physicially together.
– The roses under the necklaces came from my girls and husband, for no good reason– just because. Seeing fresh flowers in our home has always been a joy of mine and my family knows this- and knows how hard the winters are since I can’t go out and gather a bouquet from our own yard. They were shopping last weekend and my 5 year old suggested they get a bouquet for me…. so sweet and special.
I’m so glad for all these “pieces” coming together in my life. π

PIeces of Me
She has so many pieces of me, it’s as if I’m watching myself grow up.
From her love of reading, to the joy in all the simple things, she gives me flashes of my childhood.
Physically she has my dark hair, dark eyes, and bad eyesight…
Emotionally, she is sensitive and very easily hurt, she is genuine and caring to a fault.

My three boys are such blessings. My desire to be a mom began several years before I even met my husband. I am so thankful to be able to stay home with them and watch them grow and mature. That’s the best gift of all.

I also got a photo in the Museum of Contemporary Art for the student exhibition! It was so neat to see one of my photos alongside other great photos.
This is my roommate Sarah! Somehow I went the last few months of my 365 without taking photos of this bootiful girl aha. So this shoot is long overdue!

Pieces of Me
Pieces of me. I was originally going to post a selfie but after seeing this on my screen of my daughter I realized I couldn’t choose any photo that better described a piece of me than this one of her. Out of my 3 kids she is the one that is the most like me in so many ways. We have a deep connection & understand each other. I gaze into her stunning hazel eyes & see my mom too, who is also a piece of me. There are so many emotions that run so deep when I see this photo of her. I am so happy I took a few moments with her while the snow was falling, to capture her right at that time.

52: pieces of me
I chose various photos to represent pieces of me. The top photo, was taken last week before my husband left for TDY in AZ for 12 days. Everytime he leaves, A has a difficult time coping. I don’t think a child ever gets used to a parent leaving. My son, my husband and the dogs are all pieces of me. They are all pieces of my heart, walking around outside of my body.

Project 52, Week 3 {PIECES OF ME}
Thinking about my different roles and the pieces of me that are important today got me also thinking about my journey to this point. This is my memory box, and these are the pieces of me that are the foundation of everything else that I am and that I do now. Ticket stubs, love letters, wedding and college announcements, winning a creative writing contest, ultrasounds and hospital armbands from giving birth… it took all of these moments, all of these pieces, to make me who I am today.
Thank you so much for the feature!!! Such an honor to be in this group who inspires me to keep picking up the camera & wanting to learn something new.
Thanks so much Sarah I am thrilled to be here!! <3
I apologize…my first comment did not show up, so I posted a second time. Now I see them both! Sorry for the overkill!! π I am truly that excited, though π
