  1. What Childhood Looks Like (in film) | Personal Alert

I have ventured out of my comfort zone to shoot film lifestyle images of my family. There is such a purity. There is so much soul in every image. In every frame.

It feels amazing to finally have imagery that really suits the emotion and mood I strive to capture without having to alter or edit anything in Photoshop. Yes. These are not edited at all. Whether we are hanging around the house, or adventuring somewhere here in Colorado I find that these images really embody the very soul of my children, and myself.

And this is childhood. This is what childhood looks like from day to day in our family.

  2. Personal Alert | What The End of Summer Looks Like

I have been a part of a special monthly project called What ___ looks like. The past couple of years a wonderful group of talented photographers and myself have been documenting our lives with our families in our own special way and sharing a circle for those that want to follow with links to continue on until the chain is completed.  This is what our end of summer looks like.

Time is ticking on down and Autumn season is literally just around the corner.  I absolutely adore fall, but we are quickly coming up on November, when our little guy is due to be born, so I have been trying my very best to get the littles out for exploring while it is still possible. One of favorite family past times is jumping in the car and driving around to find new places to enjoy with our children.

Sadly, there has been quite a bit of flooding and devastation in our area, which is pretty surreal. We just had the kids out in the Sunflower fields days before the rain began.  We had no idea what was in store for our beautiful state.  Colorado is a pretty special place. We have lived here for two years this December.  I truly had no clue that we would all fall so hard for this amazing place.  Watching the news and seeing the major destruction and devastation the flooding has brought so close by, and seeing the amount of people displaced and the damage to familiar places we love to visit and explore just breaks my heart.  We are VERY fortunate to live in a neighborhood that hasn’t faced the brunt of the flooding, but my heart and prayers are with those that have.  I am also incredibly sad that we won’t be able to access the places we love so much safely.  I miss our family hikes already, and our evenings exploring.

Be sure to head on over to the talented Jenny Cruger Photography to see what her last month was like! You can find her HERE.
