  1. Review & Giveaway Alert!! Win your choice of Ariana Falerni’s Wall Display Guides OR her Shoot and Sell App!

When Ariana approached me about possibly doing a review for her AMAZING Shoot and Sell App I was besides myself. Sometimes I get so busy with work I don’t have time to acquaint myself with the latest and greatest resources for photographers.  I knew of her beautiful wall display guides but really hadn’t somehow heard of her new beautiful app. (Yes I admit I Might as well be living under a rock!) Anyone that has been following me either on Facebook or Instagram knows my love for gallery walls. I have already started the very first one in our new home and there will be many to follow. Most photographers, like myself tend to get overwhelmed with the possibilities. I admit actually that sometimes my images just sit on my external hard drive for months and months at a time because I am simply dumb founded with how to frame  and arrange them let alone hang them.  I have the hardest time conceptualizing what images to hang together, what frames to purchase and I just can’t “see” things before they are actually on the wall. This is why Ariana’s app is GENIUS. Yes I went there. Because it really is. The possibilities are simply endless. The Shoot & Sell app is simple and fun so if you aren’t all that savvy like myself it is a total breeze and quick to use. I can customize so many things and I can pull the images right off my Flickr or drop box account so I don’t have to spend hours pouring over images to save to my Ipad.  Even better if my photography clients get as overwhelmed as myself we can simply hang out and go over their gallery images together and work on a wall display of their own. There isn’t a single thing I don’t love about this app!! So with that being said I want to give one away!! We realize that some of you may not have access to an Ipad though so if you do want to enter you can choose in lieu of the app to go for the Wall Displays that you can customize right in Photoshop! Below the Giveaway be sure to scroll down to see my own detailed images using this app and one Ariana included as well as more information on her awesome product! The first I left an empty space to give you an idea of where you would place an image of your own. She also includes different groupings for your convenience.  The second one is just personal images of my own children. Ariana also includes stock images but you can take your own photos as backgrounds.

You can also enter this giveaway on Facebook on my fan page at http://www.facebook.com/myfourhens under the giveaway tab in case the rafflecopter widget doesn’t load properly here for you.

My husband gave me this Letter necklace for my very first Mother’s Day. I wore it everyday when I went to work to remind me of her. Last week she asked if she could have it. It is now hers to keep.

    Lots of Eye Candy:

Dear ones at home…old letters written from my grandmother to her family after she married & moved away with my grandfather. They all started with ‘Dear ones at home’… My mom gave them to me, so they’re new to me. I am snuggled up ready to read through them. These are from the early 1930’s & into the 40’s. There are also a few letters my mom wrote home to her parents after she married & moved away.

this picture is of my 6 year old son and my father-n-law. we moved home to florida last summer. one of the main reasons we felt it was so important to move back THEN was my father-n-law is living with Alzheimers. it has been heartbreaking to watch this disease take over his mind. i love this image because you can see the love that he still feels for my son. it is all over his face. and i know one day this picture will be a treasure for my son. this was one of those moments i didn’t “ask” for, but am so glad i have now forever.

    Something Old, Something New

I had the pleasure of shooting my best friend’s senior portraits yesterday in the old town of Winter Garden. She’s (almost) a new graduate, and we certainly had fun incorporating the old, vintage theme and props into the session. Isn’t she just the perfect model?! Such a natural!

    Week 46 ~ Honoring Pappy

    Caption:

    Week 46 ~ Honoring Pappy

The My Four Hens Project 52 theme this week is Something Old or Something New. Since last Sunday was Veteran’s Day, Dominic was part of a Veteran’s Day performance at his school this week where all of the third graders sang patriotic songs while the kindergartners waved flags. It made me cry several times. I’ve been thinking a lot about my Pappy. Pappy was my mother’s father and died when I was 20 years old. I wish he could’ve met my children, I wish I could hug him one more time. There is something about grandparents when you are a teenager… you take them for granted. You think of them as being old. You don’t realize until you’ve had your own children how valuable they are… how many stories they hold in their hearts, how much you can learn about your parents and yourself, how much life and vibrance and wisdom they contain.
I’m sharing Pappy’s old WWII Army photo which hangs on my mom’s wall. He was a medic and served in the South Pacific. Both my mom and my aunt said he wouldn’t talk much about that time. I can’t even imagine the horrors he saw being on the front lines. He was captured and was a prisoner of war. I think he was held captive and escaped after a few days, but he would not speak of his time as a POW either.
Wasn’t he a handsome soldier? He had curly red hair and a cleft chin. What a dashing young man. Do me a favor… if you have grandparents in your life, ask them to tell you a story and write it down. Don’t let their legacy ever be forgotten.

Recently our phone broke so my father pulled this old phone out of the cupboard and said we could borrow it. I was delighted to learn it was the phone from the first house I ever lived in 40 years ago. Mum and dad have moved 8 times since that house, and dad has kept this phone every move! It certainly was a new experience for Lucy to make a phone call using this old phone – she even had to ask me what I meant when told her to dial the number!

We have been members of our local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) or “Crop Share” for 4 years now. Each year a unique vegetable pops into our share. Sometimes I give it away to one more adventurous than I, but last week my sister-in-law encouraged me to “try it”. So, here sits celeriac, my “new” veggie beside an old standby, carrots – both peeled, diced, sautéd and popped into chicken noodle soup – the old and new mingling together in perfect yumminess. 🙂

My daughter modeling a Y-style pearl necklace that was given to me by my grandmother. I wanted to shoot this because just this past week my Grandmother was diagnosed with Leukemia. She is so important to me. It’s horrible being so far from home. I know I have limited time with my grandmother and these pearls mean more to me now than ever. They are something I will pass on to my daughter when she is older. A precious heirloom from a precious and brave woman. I hope I can live half the life of faith and strength that my grandmother has lived. I am not ready to let her go. 🙁

I am so thankful to my child’s worship leaders who are helping develop my little boy’s love for God. He is soaking up all the lessons and asking so many questions! Tonight, I walked into his room and found him looking for all his Kindergarten sight words in the Bible and trying to read his memory verse. I am overwhelmed with JOY!
