  1. Two years young | On a Personal Note

I find it incredible that two years have now passed since my daughter blessed us with her appearance on this earth. I can not believe that our very last child is growing up so fast before my very own eyes. I also think its beyond surreal that simultaneously it feels like Sophia has been here forever and yet not long enough to already be celebrating her second year alive! My husband and I knew that we would have a big family. In my heart of hearts I always knew that one wouldn’t be enough and just about every two years we have been blessed with a new addition. I suppose four children by today’s standards really isn’t a HUGE family (though that definitely depends on who you talk to) with families gracing the reality tv circuit topping off at 8, 12 and even 20 plus kids. But our four is perfect and our Sophia is the baby in every sense of the word. Most don’t know this but I still nurse her and she even still sleeps in my bed. I get mixed reactions, some horrified some congratulatory.  She does seem like such a baby still probably for that very reason but I know soon enough she will lose interest and wean so I count my blessings and cherish the extra opportunity to bond while I have it. As a matter of fact most of the time I am working on my computer she is either on my lap and in my arms or sleeping with her round chubby little face propped right up on my shoulder.

When I learned her birthday was on Easter this year I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate. When we began to plan Sophia’s pregnancy we were surprised to find that unlike our other babies getting pregnant was not easy. I am fairly young and was a bit discouraged when month after month it just wasn’t happening. I not only longed for another child but secretly prayed for a daughter. Not because I prefer any gender over the other. My boys are just as precious to me. But because my oldest daughter needed a sister. I am the oldest of three children (well actually I have 4 siblings but thats a long story lol!) I have always been the maternal type. As a matter of fact as a kid when people asked me what I aspired to be when I got older all I could think of was a mommy. I wanted to be a mommy. My mother has my sister 9 and a half years after she had me. She was my living breathing doll. I washed her hair in the tub, I played dolls and carted her everywhere I went.  To this day I am very close with her and knew that Lillian my oldest child being so much like me in personality would absolutely love and cherish a sister of her own. I told Lily to pray.

We prayed for months, not only for a new baby but for a sister for Lily. When we finally were able to conceive nearly a year later I just knew in my heart Sophie was a well a Sophie lol! From that very first positive pregnancy test, to the discerning ultra sound to the day she was born I have felt complete. We have our two boys and our two girls. Really I could not ask for more. And let me just say Sophie is not the girly type at all which is totaly okay. Actually quite perfect because my baby sister was the same way lol! Sophia is a tom boy in every sense of the word!

Anyhow I am going to sum this all up with a few photos. I just needed to really put it out there and let Sophia know that one day when she reads this she knows how incredibly blessed she is to have a big sister and two amazing older brothers that love and cherish her. She really lights up our lives. Two amazing years and many more to come.

Happy Birthday Sophie. I love you!

  2. Quick Action Tutorial | From this to that

Hi Everyone! I had such a great response on my latest commercial shoot with my daughter for Lillipops Designs gorgeous dress. (It is the session a couple posts down on the beach) I thought I would share a quick recipie on how I achieved the look in those photos as I generated a lot of interest!  The main action sets I used are Fable, The Photographer’s Tool Box and A Very M4H Tool box. You can find those all linked by clicking on the set names listed right there! The photo I chose to edit was backlit and a bit underexposed and low contrast to begin with. I chose these so you could get a feel for how I processed them! I hope they help alittle!

undefinedundefined Lastly I took Bring on the color from The Photographer’s Tool Box and painted on about 15-20 percent opacity over areas on the photo I wanted more color and then tweaked the main layer opacity to my liking and I used Soft pop on 24 percent. 🙂 Hope this helps some!
