M4H Project 52 | 2/52 “Imperfection”

I am so incredibly humbled, and so excited to embark on this project for our third year in a row. If you are just seeing this and would like to participate you can find information on just how to HERE. I do hope you will join us!

Our second week’s theme will be:

    Imperfection.

The first thing I have noticed over the past few years now hosting our Project 52, the knee jerk reaction is to compare yourself to everyone else participating in the project. It was actually my really only hesitation in creating a Facebook group.  I decided this year I would bite the bullet and do this anyhow because despite that fear I knew it would give us all a chance to birth a community chalk full of support and kindness and friendship.  Many find they feel pressured to “compete” or have these incredible images right away. The truth is this is your project. Unlike photography inspiration blogs or other sites that have become popular in the past couple of years (and are wonderful for their own reason) this challenge is a bit different. It is about your stories, your growth, your journey. This is truly your project. When I choose Eye Candy I don’t just reach for the most beautiful of images in the group. This isn’t why I host this project. I love to get to know you all and hopefully manage to create not just a positive place to share your photography and weekly photos but give you a safe, soft place to land. This week we are touching on the theme imperfection.

I can not wait to see what you come up with! Remember you have free reign. You can be as literal or interpretive as you like. You can also disregard the theme and go your own direction.
    Happy Shooting!

Thank you for this reminder. I nearly didn’t post this week because I felt so inadequate when comparing my work with others. You are so right this is my personal journey, my growth and so I will remind myself of this each week when I feel anxious about posting!

    2. I agree whole-heartedly. It’s human nature to compare yourself to others. I’m a part of this group because of the constant support, inspiration and motivation it provides. Thanks for the reminder to just be me.

It’s why I like this challenge so much!
