P52W2 – Fresh

Fresh. This year I wanted to teach my 4 year old the value of a dollar. He has been begging to go on the Mickey Boat again, and even though I tell him it is expensive he doen’t always understand. So we started his very own 52 week savings plan for our upcoming cruise. Each week he puts in money for the week. Week 1 $1, Week 2 $2, and so on. It has a running total on the side of it. At the end of the year he will have around $1300 (almost enough for his cruise fare..lol). Of course all the money is coming from me, but he is working for it. Responsiblity, saving, and an amazing reward will be a great lesson in life. He is starting fresh. He has no bills, no credit, nothing holding him back. He can get though this life without struggling if he works for it and I pray he does. I hope to do this every year for him and I hope eventually he just keeps saving it and watching it grow. In this picture he has his first three dollars in it and is so proud!

Fresh Start. This was my first thought when I saw the theme for this week. I am determined to make a fresh start with my devotions, with my children, with my family this year. This book is a fantastic start to that. The authors have a wonderful perspective on motherhood and the struggles a mom can have; the struggles {I} have.

{un} fresh 2/52 This is our fresh start to the new year! Here is all the freshness we could muster up in our household this week. My poor sweet girl has croup (scary), and she feels miserable. And now my hubby and I are sick as well. But as rough as this week has been, I feel like this picture sums it up perfectly… she feels terrible, but she’s up and moving around, determined to push through the sickness and exhaustion. And sometimes in life, we have to do just that. Even though it isn’t always fresh, lively, exciting, or fun, we all have an inner freshness that keeps us going when we need it most. Her young freshness is something I’d love to have myself. 🙂
