What an amazing week!! It was such a treat to go through the gallery and take in all your gorgeous P52 images this morning! I am always blown away by you all and can I just say how much growth I have seen since the beginning of the project back in January! Like always it was almost impossible to pick images to feature because there were SO many good ones!!! I finally narrowed it down though!!

Thank goodness generic acetaminophen is white or else I would not have had anything to photograph this week. My entire family has been stricken with a terrible virus over the past two weeks. It started with my son, then MacGyver got it, then my daughter and I together. My daughter is on the upswing right now but I am still miserable. My doc sent me for a chest x-ray yesterday to rule out pneumonia. If I could just get this fever to break I know I would feel so much better. My throat hurts so much that I can barely swallow. If there is a silver lining to this cloud, it’s that I lost 5 pounds from being unable to eat. LOL!

Forgive me, I am submitting a second picture. I just had to share this. Today I was photographing our basically feral cat (who pretty much lives under our bed) when suddenly there was a thump on the bed and a flash of black. Hahaha, I guess Zoe felt she had to star in another picture this week! (She was the subject of my “Perspective” image last week).

I was busy, busy this past week and try as I might – had no inspiration for WHITE. I wanted to just cheat and use a photo I’d taken before, but I decided to go with something I just shot. I listened to Zach and Jody on Creative Live last week and took to heart what Jody said about Perfectionism. Sometimes you’ve done enough.

So I just made this white tent and the dog had white on him so that counts, right? Not perfect, but this P52 is for fun, a challenge, and to learn new things. I think I had success with all 3 in a different way than I imagined!

I made this tent! It’s upcycled from an old Paper White dress. It’s linen and cotton with hand embroidery. It’s gorgeous, but was ruined by a wine stain at the wedding it was worn at. Success!

Lightroom was used for all of this – the edits, frames, watermarks. I would be so happy if I could use Lightroom more to speed up my workflow. Something about Photoshop adds a little something, something I haven’t been able to recreate in LR…yet. So I accomplished something by learning a little more about creating this storyboard frame. Success!

So, I made a tent, captured some goofy dog expressions, used white, and learned I need more practice shooting white. Success!

In a way, no inspiration turned into a great learning opportunity!

I haven’t been very faithful to P52. Sometimes life is too busy and client work is too much and I choose to spend the extra time just hanging with my loved ones instead of photographing them. But this shot from a recent session definitely fits into the “white” theme. I’ve started experimenting with backlight earlier in the day, and it is much trickier. Whiter and brighter than what you get in the golden hour, but I love it just the same.

This was taken at a maternity session I did this week. The awesome things they do for expecting mothers these days….the doctors office let their little boy pick out a stuffed animal and the ultrasound tech recorded the baby’s heartbeat and put it inside the bunny for him to listen to whenever he wants. I was actually shooting his mama and turned to see him sitting like this in the chair just playing her heatbeat over and over. He caught me staring and looked up at me and said “that’s her”, like he just couldn’t believe he was going to be a big brother. I will never forget this moment.

I bought this dress before my daughter (17 months) was born. I bought it with the intention of using it for her first birthday pictures but I fell in love with another outfit instead.

This has been hung on her door for months and months and when I saw the theme for this week I knew it would be perfect.

She laughed and smiled when I put it on her, she twirled and danced. She didn’t like it when we took the dress off and she cried. Hopefully with some nice weather in the not to distant future she can wear it again and we can take some more pictures

This is my first baby Ella, she is going to be 8 in a couple weeks. She is the best companion you could ever be blessed with. About a year ago she lost one of her eyes to glaucoma. My daughter is always worried about her being in the bright light and puts her sunglasses on Ella. On this rare occasion, Ella did not try to chew them off of her face. I actually think she kinda likes it… See, she’s smiling.
