Family Ties | California Travel Sessions

When Sarah first reached out to me, she was hoping to be able to have family photos of herself, her sister and her Mother. Unfortunately the travel turned out to be a bit too much for her sweet Mama, so we photographed her with her sister and family. I know her heart had to be just a bit heavy with that vital link her own family not present that day, but we made more than the most of it and I felt a connection to her right off the jump. You could tell this lady was all heart. She also happens to be another talented photographer out of Illinois , and sells the most beautiful vintage quilts and afghans via Instagram. ( You can find that at @fancyvintageshop )

I had a blast. These girls were outspoken and hilarious and I do believe continued to have a good ol’ time after we were done lol! She said there is a possibility they will find themselves in Colorado some day so I am holding them to that.

One of my favorite aspects of this career is the privilege of getting to know so many people on a more personal level. Sometimes this is in watching them bond with their loved ones, other times it is in the act of them telling me their stories. It is a reminder that we are all people from all walks of life, but we still hold the ability to have joy or sorrow, to love others something fierce. It is the ultimate honor. To be let in on such a personal level to capture these connections, these tales of heart and soul. It is an honor I shall never take lightly nor for granted.

And to be trusted to tell these stories from my own perspective.

There is hardly anything sweeter than that.
