Week 37 – Seasonal
I challenged myself to use harsh midday light today.
My red blossoms arrive in winter with the promise of spring around the corner, and the beautiful yellow wattle signals when it has arrived. — at Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.

It’s turtle hatching season on our beaches! We found this hatchling Loggerhead on one of our evening beach walk. He was alone, which is unusual as turtles all hatch together and make their trek to the water together. We feel so blessed to have seen such a rarity and one of nature’s true miracles!

Humpback Whales migrate every year to North Queensland to breed. We are lucky this week to be holidaying on Stradbroke Island, just off from the Queensland coast to witness the seasonal return of the whales as they make their way home with their baby calf’s. ‘Oh there’s another one!’ Was the cry of today.

this weekend took the husband and I on a quick little anniversary getaway to Glacier National Park before the season is over. so, sooo breathtaking! while staying in Many Glacier, we were able to witness many beautiful animals fattening themselves up for the season. this 3 yr old female grizzly was the most entertaining for sure! she was just as curious about us as we were her. {apparently, the first snows last week pushed her out of the mountains and down towards the water, where she’s been hanging out, foraging… she seemed pretty unfazed by the human audience.} it was a magical weekend to end our summer season and begin the hibernation mode…

Seasonal (37/52)
As my babe turned 8 months this week I came to the realization that my time of nurturing and sustaining his life (at least in this most tangible way) may be nearing an end. It’s a season, one of sleep deprivation and cheering milestones, of clinging and exploring, of comforting and celebrating. As he receives life and health and reaches for me, I joy in the moments that he needs me. This too shall end and soon he’ll need my support and love in new ways. Yet his momma I’ll be all days.

(Seasonal} Sadly this is how the seasons go in Calgary. Crazy blizzard September 8-10. Wouldn’t mind experiencing some of the fall season too, but not sure if Mother Nature has that in mind for us!

Spring has sprung!
I used to say summer was my favourite season but I most def think I love Spring more. The days are warm but the nights still cool and cosy. The mornings have that hint of ‘Summer is on it’s way’ feeling in the air. The flowers are beginning to bloom. We still get that soft winter light (Australia is renowned for it’s harsh light).
I love how our photography reflects the time of the year, I love the variety we get from each season and what it has to offer

Everyone keeps saying it’s fall, but it has been in the high 90s here. So this Alaska girl is enjoying summer in September! We ventured down to the coast to revive, recharge, and, well burn a little too (unintentional). I love seeing my children come to life. The hubub of every day just gets old, it’s the trips like these I hope they remember when they grow up.

It’s almost harvest season here in California and it’s my favorite time of year. This picture was taken of some rice fields on a drive to San Francisco, the sunrise was so beautiful I had to get out of the car and snap some picture. It’s crazy that you can go from something like this that is so peaceful and vast, and in a few short hours be in a busy city like San Francisco.
