  1. Light and Laughter | California Travel Sessions

This family was SO much fun. This mama came with a bag full of awesome, including some hats and even pirate inspired goodies for the kids to play with on the beach. We literally had one big hang out session, and working with them really reinforced just how amazing my job is. Not only was this family absolutely beautiful, but the time flew on by and I was sad to say goodbye (as I usually am lol!) I love when parents are hands on and are not afraid to love on their children. The photos were unscripted and sweet and everything I would hope to capture for a family. There was a bunch of cuddles and giggles and more love than one person could ALMOST handle.

Thank you for an amazing session sweet Paula. I hope you love these as much as I do!

    Week 39: Heavy

Heavy with emotion for this 8 year old. She is my beautiful niece and she lost her momma going on a year this October 22nd. My heart is very heavy approaching this month because I was so close with my sister in law. Heavy with knowing that though time is healing..I am afraid that this year mark will start making me forget things. I pray that these kids will always remember her and what an incredible mom and woman she was. So this is for me..what is on my heart right now. This girl and her 3 siblings…so if you think about it, just say a prayer for them. And maybe for me too .

It’s simply incredible the speed in which babies grow. I mean wasn’t it just yesterday he was curled up in her arms? And now she’s lugging his squirmy self around like a sack of potatoes!

It is with a heavy heart we northern Minnesotans enjoy the last really warm days of fall. Soon, there will be no more trips to the Portland Malt shoppe to enjoy ice cream by the lake.

    M4H P52 Week 39-Heavy

Weight has been weighing heavily on my mind these days. I have good days and bad days. I know I am more than my weight and I really want to work on being healthy and not so much about a number.

Heavy heart – I struggled a little with this weeks theme, so I consulted my toy box (yes I have one!!) and found this little fellow.

Heavy | I was asked to capture this beautiful girl’s senior pictures, but how can you celebrate when you are still mourning the loss of your baby. This young mother had just lost her baby when he was only 9 months old with no signs of health condition. It was very sudden, but we will never forget the joy he brought to this family and the legacy he left behind though he lived a very short life! His organs were donated to save 5 other lives. May we keep her in our prayers…

For the first time in a VERY long time my whole family got together to play music and just hang out. We took some informal pictures outside to remember the day. And my dad and brother couldn’t resist a heavy metal pose!!

M4H 39/52: Heavy. These are the last of the tomatoes from the farm this year; I got them with my farm share last Tuesday. The heirlooms this year have been really big…before I used these two I decided to weigh them to see just how heavy they were.

I don’t often see full blooms on my Camellia. The buds, often doubles, are so heavy that the bush leans and sags under their weight, and they usually fall to the ground before they have a chance to open completely.

A heavy heart…that’s the way I would describe how I’ve felt over the last week and a half. My friend lost her son, my son lost his friend and my heart is weighed down for both of them.

39/52. Heavy. I love being a photographer. I really do. I have so much gratitude. This season has been so beyond busy for me. I am doing sometimes 8 shoots in 1 week. I have 4 kids. I have done my best to maintain the balance but it is hard at times. One thing that goes by the wayside is me picking up the camera and photographing my children. Literally doesn’t happen. I had just returned from a morning shoot and my daughter was standing on the counter getting water. I saw this moment and was so moved to grab my camera. Her face, her hair, the light, the simple moment. I miss this. I miss this so much. My heart feels so heavy that I am not capturing these moments. I am so grateful I paused to get this. But it is hard to face the reality of what I miss when I am too busy to take a moment.
