  1. M4H P52 “Something New” Eye Candy

    Excited to jump right into this week’s “Something New” themed Eye Candy. You all come up with so many inspiring and amazing interpretations every week, Mondays just can’t come fast enough. I also think with many of us really needing a bit of a pick me up to jump start the week with a bit of inspiration, right? One of my favorite things about choosing a winner is seeing how far we push ourselves, to establish just even a little bit of growth (that adds up to quite a bit at the end of the year before you realize it!) I have also said it many times, but I love reading your stories, and getting a peek into the intimacy and tender or important moments you share with us all. Thank you. Thank you for not only your gorgeous images, but your honest images. They make my heart happy.

    Here we go!

    M4H Week 30 New

    This week while at our local carnival, I really wanted to get some different shots of all the lights on the rides. This was very much stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new. This was one of my favorites!

    Lots of Eye Candy:

    Her eyes have been blue since she was born and I always thought they’d stay that way. Blue like Daddy’s. But my Mom kept telling me my eyes didn’t turn green until I was much older. And while her eyes aren’t completely green (maybe they’ll never be) I see the green of mine mixed in with the blue. That is something new.

    I just found out that you can turn your 50MM lens into a macro lens, so of course I needed to try this out! It is really hard to get things sharp, but I actually really like the blurry, dreamy results.

    Something New

    Caption:

    I came home yesterday to find my oldest daughter playing with a frog in her water table. With no fear she picked it up, held it and ‘played’ with it so gently*. New to me! I of course took a zillion photos of this event and new for me is how I decided to edit this photo. It looked so much like a painting I thought, why not take it a bit further and apply the new CS6 oil paint feature? Not something I would do for every image, but I think it lends itself well here. (* the frog, named ‘hunky’ is totally ok and back to his home in nature)

    I recently learned that the life-cycle of a butterfly is very short. They hatch, live and die in about three short weeks. So, if you think about it, butterflies are always something new.

    Something New

    Just like a tree sheds its leaves and begins again, so do we at different points in our life. Change is good, and the hope of something new, something better is what moves people to take a leap of faith… and often, it leads to wonderful outcomes…

    I hope I will always have the courage to embrace change and fearlessly keep the faith whenever something new comes my way….

    Snail invasion

    Caption:

    Something new – if you remember a few weeks ago I put up a picture of a snail laying eggs. I was excited to see them hatch. Never happened. Last week I was rejoicing over a new bud on my orchid plant, last night I discovered we have baby snails in abundance, and they ate my new bud of my orchid plant. Guess the snails are going to have to find a new place to go and play.

    M4H P52: 30/52 {Something New}

    Caption:
    I honestly thought this was going to be my first week with no entry. The creative juices were not flowing.
    I went tonight to take photos of my son and nephew who only see each other 2-3 times a year and who act like siblings. They decided to take off with the quilt and do their own thing. So I was going to really stretch it and say they were trying “something new”. When I got home and loaded the photos, I realized I had done “something new”. I stood back. I let more of the scenery be in the photo. I am so use to shooting closer up. The photos of them doing their own thing ended up being my favorites and I am glad that I stepped out a bit and tried “something new” even though it feels so different to me.

    New {Location}

    Caption:

    Can you believe I’ve been driving past this rusty old tin shed for months and it only just dawned on me this week that it would make a fantastic new location for photos.

    So I dressed Mr Two in his new threads and headed off to our new little location.

    Getting him to look at the camera and failing, well that’s certainly nothing new 😉

  2. M4H P52 Weekly Theme | Muted

    I thought it would be amazing to see your images stripped down and baring all this week. I want to see your best interpretation of the theme “muted.” You can go absolutely anyway you like with this!

    I will be back Monday with Eye Candy to show you off from our previous week’s challenge!

    Also, I want to reiterate that if you indeed are new to this project and want to jump in you are completely welcome. You can find details on what this project is about HERE.

    The theme this week is:

    “Muted”

    Happy Shooting!
